With regard to the Chronicle's current state

It’s funny because I’ve spent the last week researching ye olde newspaper battles, and the manner in which Paul Smith and Scott Newhall worked to eclipse the Examiner and Hearst’s stranglehold over San Francisco. 

This is not to say that I don’t enjoy these moments with the former mayor, that is not the case in the slightest.  Willie, let’s get drinks real soon.
